Opus 2, the leader in cloud-based collaboration solutions for the legal sector, has deepened its commitment to Asia-Pacific with the appointment of Rachel Foxton as Head of APAC.
Opus 2 opened its regional headquarters in Singapore in 2015 in response to local interest in its solutions. Since then, demand has grown strongly across the wider Asia-Pacific legal community, and Opus 2 is now seeing increased adoption of its offerings across a broad spectrum of legal matters, including on small and mid-sized disputes where technology adoption has traditionally lagged.
Over six years on, Opus 2 now serves clients in a host of countries and regional centres, including Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, Japan, Korea, India and Malaysia. Opus 2 also collaborates with the Law Society of Singapore to raise awareness about the use of technology in disputes proceedings and holds the appointment from the Singapore Attorney General’s Chambers for the provision of Realtime Transcription.
Rachel joins from Twenty Essex Chambers in Singapore, where she was Director of Business Development for Asia-Pacific. Prior to that, Rachel held positions as a Practice Manager at Clifford Chance in Singapore and Director of Business Development for the Singapore International Arbitration Centre. She also served as Associate Professor at the College of Law of England and Wales and qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales with Ince and Co practising in commercial arbitration, shipping commodities & international trade, insurance & reinsurance and EU competition actions.
Commenting on her appointment, Rachel said:
“The rate of technology adoption and engagement from lawyers in Asia-Pacific has been phenomenal in recent years, and the region now has a real opportunity to leap-frog other jurisdictions including many that embarked on their digital transformation journeys earlier. Opus 2 has a track record of delivering ground-breaking technology for legal teams, and I am excited to be joining at such a pivotal time in the development of the business.”
Martin Coen, Opus 2 CEO, added:
“Asia-Pacific is a key region of investment and growth for us. We are seeing an uplift in demand from the legal sector as it continues to modernise and innovate and law firms develop their connected digital practices. Rachel has a real depth of experience and understanding of the highly diverse Asia-Pacific legal market and her leadership will complement our strong regional team as we continue to support and partner with our clients on their technology adoption journey.”
